At 10:25 PM on Monday, February 26th, Station 27, Engine 59 (Silverdale) and Montgomery Squad 75 (Telford) were dispatched on Tactical Box 27-31 for the report of a garage fire in the unit block of Highland Park Road in Hilltown Township. The SFD, along with several other local fire companies, were just finishing a training session at our station when the call was dispatched. Chief 27 (K. Wagner) and Deputy 27 (Wilhelm) arrived simultaneously and requested the Working Fire Dispatch due to fire conditions. The crew from Wagon 27 initiated fire suppression while Tower 27 split their crew to vent the structure and place a second handline in service.
With the help of our mutual aid companies, the fire was placed under control 25 minutes after Wagon 27 arrived on scene. The fire was held to the attached two car garage, and did not spread to the living area of the dwelling. SFD units were on scene for approximately two hours to check for extension and assist the Bucks County Fire Marshal with the investigation. Fire Police Officers provided crowd control at the scene, and traffic control at intersections near the incident.
Additional units on scene included Engine and Utility 26 (Perkasie), Rescue 18 (West End, Quakertown), Montgomery Air 75 (Telford), Montgomery Tower 18 (Montgomery Township) for RIT, Medic 151, and Hilltown Township Police Department. Cover companies were also put in place to provide adequate fire coverage in the Pennridge Area while crews operated at this incident. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
