2-Alarm Building Fire on Ridge Road

October 3, 2022

The Sellersville Fire Department was dispatched to 729 Ridge Road in West Rockhill Township for a reported fire alarm on Monday, October 3rd at 7:11 am. While enroute, Bucks County 911 Center advised of additional smoke and heat detector activations throughout the building. Assistant 27 arrived shortly thereafter to find a 3 ½ story taxpayer (Commercial Business on the 1st floor with residential boarding house rooms above) with smoke showing from the second floor B side of the building.

At 07:17 hours, Assistant 27 advised of a working fire and requested the fire be upgraded and a 2nd alarm be dispatched. Sellersville Command was established as companies arrived and went into service. The fire quickly spread throughout the building due to its construction type and the fire eventually vented through the roof. The building was evacuated, and a defensive attack was ordered.

Two tanker task forces were requested due to the rural fire operations in a non-hydrant area. The fire was placed under control at 9:33 hours and after extensive overhaul the last company cleared the scene at 11:10 hours.
A total of 1 commercial business and 14 occupants were displaced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation with the Bucks County Fire Marshal's Office.

A special thank you to all mutual aid companies who assisted us on this building fire.
