Shortly after 1:00 PM, Station 56 (Richland Township) was dispatched to the 100 block of Hickon Road in Springfield Township for the report of a barn on fire, and the fire spreading to an adjacent home. Initial crews reported a working fire, and Engine 27 was dispatched to cover Station 18 (West End Fire Co.) about 20 minutes into the incident. While enroute, our engine was redirected to the scene to assist with fireground operations and was able to assist with overhaul in the dwelling. Our crew of 5 operated on scene for approximately 4 hours before returning to the first due area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
