Weekly Training

March 1, 2022

For our weekly training on Tuesday night, we traveled to Wilcox Auto Salvage again to continue vehicle rescue training. In this scenario, crews were faced with two separate vehicles, where we could systematically start to remove parts of the vehicle. On the SUV, the doors were removed from the body of the vehicle with the hydraulic rescue tools, and the support posts were cut so the roof could also be removed. The end result of this process provides easier access to a person inside the vehicle. On the sedan, the front doors were removed in a similar manner, and the roof was folded back. Hydraulic rams were put in place to push the dash board up and away from the floor. This method opens up the area near the pedals and lifts the steering wheel up from the drivers lap. Our volunteers trained for nearly two hours before returning to the station. Thanks again to Tommy Wilcox for allowing us another opportunity to train!
