Two Vehicle Crash on 309 in West Rockhill

On Monday, May 24th, just after 9:40 PM, Rescue Box 27-78 was transmitted for an auto extrication on Route 309 in the area of Ridge Rd in West Rockhill Township. As Chief and Deputy 27 arrived, it was confirmed that the incident was in the southbound lanes, north of Ridge Rd. Chief 27 reported that one vehicle had struck the rear of a tractor trailer, and the driver of the car was heavily entrapped. Engine 27-1 arrived to start extrication efforts and was soon assisted by Engine 58 (Trumbauersville), Rescue 18 (West End), and Squad 72 (Tylersport). Crews worked to raise the rear of the trailer, allowing room for the car to be cut. The driver was removed from the vehicle and handed over to an awaiting ambulance. Traffic 27 and other area fire police officers shut down the roadway for the duration of the incident. The accident is under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
